As a child, I knew I was supposed to be something great. I just didn’t know what or how. Little did I I know, God had a plan for every experience and environment I encountered. Growing up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (one of the most segregated cities), I knew all about injustice and issues that plague a city. Undoubtedly, these experiences led me to positions and a career advocating for others, justice, and equity.

Looking back, I’ve made some very courageous decisions. One was getting married at the young age of 22.

Many said we were too young to marry but we've been able to navigate the many challenges of life and relationships. These experiences have given me a wealth of wisdom and is why I can confidently coach my clients through the challenges of life.

On paper, I was successful, but I knew there was more to my life.

I wasn’t satisfied with the degrees and the “successful jobs” because I knew my potential was much more than external accolades. God had a plan that was much bigger than a degree on a wall and when I tapped into his purpose for my life, having courage wasn’t so hard.

One day, I made a decision that I would stop building an empire for everyone else without leaving a legacy for my own life and family. I made a radical decision to be in the 2% of people that actually go after their goals and dreams—and here I am today, taking whoever will go with me.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

Michael Rogers is a husband, father, and a man of faith. Outside of leading his family, Michael is an educator, speaker, consultant, and a life coach who focuses on helping people and organizations unlock their full potential.

Michael has spent the majority of his career in the education sector, specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. With nearly 12 years of experience, Michael is a trusted voice and advocate for change in policies, procedures, and daily practices.

Michael received his Bachelor's Degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois in Political Science and History with a Pre-Law concentration. Michael received his Master's Degree from Western Illinois University with an emphasis on counseling, human development, organizational leadership and social justice.

Michael is the founder of Unlocking Potential, a coaching and consulting business. Michael has created a signature program “Unlocking Potential Academy-an online academy that focuses on coaching everyday people into a courageous lifestyle with purpose.

Outside of these programs, Michael provides consultation and is a speaker and trainer for organizations that are looking to implement diversity, equity, and inclusion practices throughout the entire organization.

Michael is also the founder of Intentional Intercession, a prayer and teaching ministry that aims to help people understand HOW to pray with strategy, intention, and live a bold life for Christ.
